Bobrovsky shows the Panthers he wants to stay, by doing more than stopping shots

Sergei Bobrovsky picking up an assist for the Florida Panthers is fun, but with the trade deadline noise and his expiring deal, it also feels like a message.

The clip is simple. Bobrovsky got the secondary assist after Florida turned a broken pinch into offense
Goalies don't get many points, so when one shows up on the scoresheet, fans notice the details.
They also notice the timing.
Bobrovsky is in the final season of his contract, carrying a $10 million cap hit, and he's set to become a UFA after 2025-26.
That one pass plugs right into the bigger conversation, because Florida's deadline has been loud around goaltending.
A recent report tied to Friedman's notes suggested the Panthers have at least talked internally about the Bobrovsky extension question, and the uncertainty is what fuels the rumors.

Sergei Bobrovsky and the Florida Panthers feel tied together

Panthers fans love the chaos when it's someone else's roster, but nobody wants to see their Cup goalie dangled like a spare part.
Florida is the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion, and Bobrovsky is a huge reason that banner run became a repeat.
Even in a messy 2025-26 regular season, he's still carrying starts and competing, sitting at 22-17-1 with a 3.08 GAA and an .874 save percentage.
The numbers aren't the whole story, though. Florida's game is built on pressure, and when pinches miss, the goalie eats it.
That's why this assist matters. It's Bobrovsky reading the pinch, beating it, and turning defense into a counterpunch.
It also screams «I'm part of the solution,» right when trade chatter tries to turn him into a problem.
If Bobrovsky wants to stay with the champs, the next step is obvious. He has to keep showing value, and Florida has to decide what that value looks like in dollars.
The deadline always tempts teams to get cute. This one should tempt Florida to get serious.

Should the Florida Panthers extend Sergei Bobrovsky instead of listening to trade calls?
