Brad Marchand stirred Toronto Maple Leafs fans again, and Florida Panthers fans are eating it up.

On Tuesday, Marchand spoke about last summer's free agency and didn't tiptoe around the Toronto angle.
«It was between Florida and Toronto where I was going to go,» he said, right before a Panthers, Leafs matchup.

That sentence is gasoline in this market, because Marchand has been the perfect villain here for years. He's the guy Leafs fans love to hate, mostly because he never stops smiling about it.
What made the comment hit harder is the honesty about Florida's cap picture at the time. Marchand admitted he didn't think staying with the Panthers would even be an option, because of their situation.
So when he re-signed in South Florida, Toronto supporters figured the whole thing was just noise. Hearing him say the Leafs were truly in it brings that old frustration right back to the surface.
Here's the tweet that's been making the rounds, and it's already lighting up timelines.

For the Panthers locker room, it's also a reminder of what Marchand brings beyond points, he brings edge, competition, and constant chatter. Teammates feed off that energy, because practice gets sharper when someone is always poking the bear.
On the ice, he's the type who turns small moments into distractions for opponents. One extra shove after the whistle, one grin at the right time, and suddenly a team is thinking about him instead of its structure.
For Florida's fans, it's the fun part of the rivalry without needing any extra drama. Toronto is loud, the building is tense, and Marchand seems to enjoy every second of it.
The best part is it doesn't have to be deeper than that. Marchand said what he said, Toronto fans will react how they react, and the Panthers still have to go play the game in front of them.
