Sam Reinhart celebrates his 800th NHL game tonight, a clean reminder of how far the Florida Panthers forward has climbed since his Buffalo Sabres days and early draft hype.

He entered the league as a polished prospect, selected second overall in 2014, and steadily turned promise into production. Reinhart posted 295 goals and 333 assists through his first 799 games, numbers that reflect durability and steady improvement rather than sudden spikes. His breakout came in 2023-24 when he erupted for 57 goals, proving he could carry elite scoring weight on a contending team.
Florida unlocked another layer in his game. Reinhart's move to Sunrise in 2021 added speed to his transitions and gave him more freedom in the slot, where he built chemistry with Aleksander Barkov on both sides of the puck. His ability to read plays early, win sticks-on-puck battles and finish around the net turned him into one of the league's most efficient five-on-five producers.

Sam Reinhart continues to drive Florida Panthers offense

Fans appreciate how rarely he takes a shift off. Reinhart delivers predictable effort in a league where inconsistency can sink talented players, and coaches trust him in every situation. That trust deepened through two straight long playoff runs, including last spring's Cup win where he recorded 16 postseason points. His reliability became as important as his finishing touch.
Tonight's game in Toronto adds another layer to the milestone. Reinhart grew up just outside the city, and these matchups often bring extra jump to his stride. The Leafs have historically struggled to contain him in tight areas, an edge Florida continues to exploit when their power play heats up.

He also enters the night on pace for another strong season, strengthening his case for a long Panthers future. Florida values how his game ages; his intelligence and positioning translate well as physical tools evolve, and his penalty-killing work improved sharply over the last two years. Those traits help stabilize a roster juggling injuries early in the season.
Reinhart's 800th game is less about a round number and more about a veteran who keeps adding new chapters, and tonight offers a perfect spotlight.
