Sam Bennett collided with Juuse Saros during the first period of Friday’s Olympic semifinal between Team Canada and Team Finland.

The Canadian forward, known for playing on the edge, didn't hesitate to bring his usual style to the Olympic ice.
Saros had just smothered a loose puck when Bennett arrived at full speed. The impact sent the Finnish netminder into the back of the cage. A massive scrum ensued as the Finnish defense closed in to protect their starter.
The Finnish roster features three of Bennett’s Florida teammates: Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Niko Mikkola. These guys won a Stanley Cup together, but it's safe to say they didn't like seeing their teammate pull off his antics against them.

Sam Bennett Enters In Massive Collision With Juuse Saros

Bennett entered this tournament as a replacement for Anthony Cirelli. Since being added, he has provided the grit Canada wanted, but his reputation for hitting goalies is becoming a focal point. Over his NHL career, he has consistently walked the line between physical and reckless.
Finland relies heavily on Saros, who entered the semifinals with a sterling .938 save percentage. Taking him out would be a massive blow to their gold medal hopes.
The solution isn't to start trying to take out the opponent's goalie. For Team Canada, execution must be better. Playing with bite is one thing, but crossing the line against teammates’ countrymen is a dangerous game.
Considering Bennett's style and reputation, playing the accident card won't take him very far.
Fans are eager to see what he'll have to say for himself after the game, especially since Team Finland was able to capitalize on the ensuing power play. Fortunately, he didn't cause an injury.
Winning is crucial for all players on Team Canada, but doing it the right way is even more important.
