Vinnie Hinostroza is headed to the Florida Panthers, and Panthers fans can finally exhale a little after a chaotic trade deadline Friday.

This one is simple on paper, Minnesota sent Hinostroza to Florida for future considerations, first reported by Michael Russo.
If you're a Cats fan, the «why» jumps out fast, Florida needs speed and usable NHL minutes in the bottom-six right now.
Hinostroza brings that straight-line pop, plus he can slide to either wing without the whole line getting stuck in mud.
He's 31, drafted in 2012, a sixth-round pick, 169th overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks, and he's made a career out of surviving the league's hardest job.
The production is what it is, 46 games this season with Minnesota and a 3-7-10 line, but that's also the profile of a deadline depth add who doesn't cost you real assets.
Here's the report that started the ripple.
For Florida, the fit is about pace and forecheck detail more than points, especially with the Panthers sitting at 30-29-3 and needing every single two points they can steal.
Hinostroza can be the guy who gets in first, forces a rushed rim, and lets the skill guys start with the puck instead of chasing it.

Vinnie Hinostroza gives Florida Panthers a live body

Panthers fans have been living on stress coffee all season, so yeah, adding a real NHL skater for «future considerations» feels like a tiny win.
If Paul Maurice wants to shorten the bench less, Hinostroza helps, because he doesn't need perfect matchups to take a shift.
He also gives Florida a plug-and-play option if injuries flare up again, or if the lineup needs a jolt between the pipes with less defensive chaos in front.
And if you're thinking cap, the appeal is obvious, this kind of move usually keeps flexibility intact for bigger swings.
The best part is the expectation level, nobody is asking him to be Sam Reinhart on the man advantage.
Just win a few races, keep pucks alive, and make the next game easier for Aleksander Barkov's line.
If Hinostroza does that starting this weekend, Panthers fans will take it and move on to the next must-win.
