Matthew Tkachuk's return has Florida Panthers lines buzzing, and Evan Rodrigues plus Mackie Samoskevich suddenly feel like the story again.

Seeing Tkachuk on a line in practice for the first time in a while is the kind of small detail that matters.
Florida has been juggling roles, and his legs, his edge-work, and his net-front habits change how every shift looks.
The early look has Tkachuk skating with Rodrigues and Samoskevich on the third line, which is a spicy idea.
Rodrigues is 32 and a true plug-and-play guy, while Samoskevich brings pace and quick hands that can win you the weak side.
Florida's coaches can also manage matchups with that trio, especially on the road.
A third line that can actually keep the puck in the offensive zone helps the Panthers protect their blue line and keep shifts shorter.
Matthew Tkachuk return steadies Florida Panthers line
I'll be honest, Panthers fans have been waiting for that No. 19 sighting like it's a holiday.
The cap side is real too, because Tkachuk carries a $9.5 million cap hit on his eight-year deal, and any return forces clean roster math.
That's why the club waiving a depth forward reads like more than coincidence.
When Tkachuk is right, he drives offense in a blunt, annoying way that opponents hate.
He wins the inside lane, forces defenders to turn, and creates second chances that turn a harmless dump-in into a greasy goal.
The last full regular season we saw from him, he put up 22 goals and 57 points, and that production matches the player Florida built around.
Rodrigues had 32 points last season, and he's at his best when the puck moves fast off the wall.
The big next milestone is simple and human, get Tkachuk into a game and see if the Panthers' forecheck instantly has that familiar bite again.
