Paul Maurice hasn't lost his flair for the dramatic, even as the Florida Panthers crumbled during a 5-1 beating at the hands of the New Jersey Devils.

The veteran head coach looked at his bench and then back at Sergei Bobrovsky, essentially suggesting his goaltender should swap pads for a player stick.
It was a scathing indictment of the Florida skaters. When the coach jokes that his goalie is the best option to spark the offense, the locker room should be listening.
Bobrovsky remained the only reason this game didn't spiral into double digits. He stood tall while the defensive structure in front of him evaporated.
The Devils moved through the neutral zone with ease. Florida's puck management was sloppy, leading to odd-man rushes that hung their netminder out to dry.
Maurice has never been one to shy away from public call-outs. This specific jab highlights a massive gap in secondary scoring and overall desperation.

Panthers' stars held scoreless in Jersey

The offensive output from the top six was nonexistent. Passing wasn't crisp, and the transition game looked stuck in second gear for most of the night.
New Jersey capitalized on every mistake. They turned the blue line into a wall, forcing the Panthers into low-percentage shots and perimeter play.
Bobrovsky finished the night with a heavy workload. Despite the five goals against, his save percentage doesn't tell the story of the high-danger saves he pulled off.
The frustration on the Florida bench was visible. Maurice's "goalie as a forward" comment is a classic psychological ploy to wake up his veteran group.
If the Panthers expect to defend their status as contenders, they cannot afford nights where they leave their best player isolated.
The road trip continues, but the intensity needs to shift immediately. One man in the crease can't carry the weight of twenty.
Florida needs a response. They need to find that grit that defined their championship DNA, or these blowouts will become a recurring theme.
