Florida Panthers Winter Classic buzz met Mika Zibanejad, and the distractions felt louder than the shifts.

Miami did what Miami does, it turned hockey into an all-day event with cameras everywhere and a stadium that looks built for fireworks. The league wanted a show, and loanDepot Park delivered it in full color.
The Panthers had plenty on their plate before puck drop, including Olympic news that hit the room the same day. Sunrise Hockey Insider reported Matthew Tkachuk and Seth Jones made Team USA, which is awesome for them, but it adds mental noise.
Jones in particular is having a real season, with 24 points so far, and he is still the big-ticket defenseman on a $9.5 million cap hit with Chicago retaining enough to leave Florida at $7 million. That is star pressure before you even step onto outdoor ice. Seth Jones had to leave the game in the first period after blocking a dangerous high shot. Big loss for Florida

Florida Panthers distractions meet Mika Zibanejad precision

It honestly felt like the Panthers were enjoying the spectacle first, then trying to find their legs second.
New York did not wait around, and Mika Zibanejad looked comfortable right away. Both ESPN and FOX's live logs showed him striking in the first period, ( 2G, 1A ) and that tone-setter made the night feel simple for the Rangers.
When you are a half-step late outdoors, the puck dies on you, your clears land in skates, and your first pass turns into a scramble drill. That is where Florida's focus has to tighten, especially with the neutral-zone details that usually define their best nights.
The irony is the Panthers have earned this spotlight, and the community stuff around the game was genuinely cool to see in South Florida. But once the puck drops, the only souvenir that matters is two points, and this matchup was already screaming «playoff-style margins.»
