Paul Maurice watched Sergei Bobrovsky and the Florida Panthers boil over against the San Jose Sharks, and Sunrise loved every second.
The goalie fight was the headline, but the backstory matters.
Monday turned messy fast, and it ended with Bobrovsky skating the full length of the ice to answer Alex Nedeljkovic after the Sharks goalie jumped into a scrum.
That's not who Bob usually is. He's the calm, composed anchor, the guy who looks like he's meditating even when the slot is on fire.
That's why the «Bobby! Bobby!» chants hit different, because it felt like the building saw his heart, not just his mask.
From Paul Maurice's angle, the fight lands in that awkward sweet spot.
Coaches love emotion when it lifts the bench, and they hate it when it breaks structure.
Paul Maurice weighs Sergei Bobrovsky emotion
I think it was an emotional outlet for him. He probably needed one. Sometimes the goalie is a lonely position. It has been for him for a bit. He is not getting some break on pucks that come off him. I'd rather he didn't fight.
Maurice said.Florida was chasing the game, and Bobrovsky had already looked a little fight-the-puck with rebounds sitting there for San Jose to pounce on.
What I liked, as a fan, is that Bobrovsky didn't hide behind «goalie business» when things got ugly.
He backed his guys, even on a night where his own crease work wasn't as clean as we're used to seeing.
Maurice's challenge now is channeling that spark without chasing the circus.
The Panthers can't afford their goalie roaming for revenge shifts, especially with the schedule tightening and margins shrinking.
And yes, it came in the same game where Matthew Tkachuk returned to the lineup, which somehow made the whole night feel even louder.
The Sharks still won 4-1, but Florida looked like a team that refuses to play quiet.
If Maurice can bottle that edge and keep the team inside its system, this can turn from a viral moment into a real reset button heading into the road trip.
